Welcome from the Head Teacher

On 1 February 2013, Iffley Mead School became The Isis Academy. The conversion to academy status has given us the opportunity to share what is new and exciting about our provision and what is distinctive and unique about our academy and our community of learners.

The Isis Academy is a community Special Academy for children and young people, aged 5 – 18, with complex special educational needs. Our students have a range of additional needs but primarily we work with students with cognitive disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or Behavioral, Emotional and Social Difficulties. 

The Isis Academy VideoThe Isis Academy supports the social, emotional and academic growth of children and young people through the development of meaningful relationships and the delivery of an appropriate curriculum by experienced and skilled staff. 

We are a small school with just 120 students; we know each and every student, their history and their specific barriers to learning and success; we know each and every family and their aspirations for their children for the future. This, paired with the caliber of our staff, gives us the very best opportunity and starting point to plan and deliver teaching and learning and raising achievement activities, which will guarantee success. At The Isis Academy we value the achievements of all of our students and seek every opportunity to celebrate those achievements within the school, the family and the community.

At The Isis Academy we have a diverse community of learners with specific and individual learning, social and emotional needs, and as such, our specialist provision is built to offer bespoke learning pathways with developmental achievement benchmarks for each and every child. All students have full access to a broad age-appropriate curriculum, which is enhanced by additional specialist therapies and interventions that focus of the development of student specific needs. We pride ourselves on the delivering effective learning in a caring, sensitive and safe environment centred around the needs of the individual child.

The Isis Academy is a successful school.  Our last Ofsted Inspection report stated that ‘Through outstanding care and support, and exceptionally effective partnerships, students are helped to overcome their complex difficulties well and develop very positive attitudes to learning. As a result, students show outstanding levels of spiritual, moral and social development.’

Children can transfer to The Isis Academy throughout the school year following a referral from their mainstream primary or secondary school, or specialist provision. All students and their parents are supported in their transition to The Isis Academy and are given the time they need for visits and integration experiences supported by key staff.
